Our Pastor

Pastor Gerak has been in full-time Christian ministry for over 30 years. He trusted Christ as his Savior on November 27, 1975 while watching a television preacher in his house living room. Six months later, he was baptized as a public profession of his faith at the Central Baptist Church in Avenel, NJ. It was there, under the ministry of Pastor Jim Gent, that he answered God’s call to the ministry. In 1978, Pastor Gerak pursued church planting and started the New Testament Baptist Church in Fords, NJ. Eventually, that ministry, which met in a storefront, merged with the First Baptist Church in Perth Amboy, NJ in 1984.

Pastor Gerak graduated from Trenton State College (now College of New Jersey) with a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Elementary Education. After graduation, he was involved in public school teaching for 5 years. After that, he was shortly involved in political campaigning for local district races focused on the Woodbridge, NJ area.
